The Thames Stroke Research Network is part of the Stroke Research Network, which is one of the topic specific networks within the UKCRN established by the Department of Health and aims to improve the speed, quality, and integration of research, ultimately resulting in improved patient care. The aim of this network is to provide structures and support to local clinicians to get involved in recruiting patients to high quality multicentre trials.

Thames Stroke Research Network Annual Meeting 2011

The Thames Stroke Research Network held it's annual meeting on the 10th of May 2011 at the Roberts Building, University College London, London. The meeting was attended by almost 100 delegates from 15 Primary Care, Secondary Care and Ambulance Trusts across the Thames region. 

 

Presentations on the day included a key note presentation by Professor Tom Robinson on Blood pressure management in Stroke, a special “Trusts in Focus” group of presentations where clinicians from Southend University Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital, University College London Hospital and the Research & Development manager from West Middlesex Hospital shared their success stories and advice on Stroke Research. There were also presentations on the Stroke research as an industry with input from the Stroke Research Network and from GlaxoSmithKline and updates on some of the Stroke research projects currently recruiting.
